Privacy policy

What personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under South Africa's POPIA.

Last updated: 24 May 2026

This policy explains how Get a Job in Tech ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects personal information. It's written to comply with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA, 2013).

What data we collect

  • Browsing data. When you visit the site we collect basic technical info (IP address, browser, device, referrer, pages visited) via Vercel Analytics. No cookies are set for tracking.
  • Email address (only if you subscribe). If you opt into our newsletter via the quiz or signup form, we pass your email and quiz answers to Beehiiv, our newsletter provider. We never sell or share your email beyond Beehiiv.
  • Quiz responses. If you take the quiz, we store your answers in our database (Supabase, hosted in the EU) to help us understand what users are looking for and to personalise future content.
  • Apply clicks. When you click an "Apply" button we log the click (job ID, timestamp, user agent) so we can show employers and recruiters which listings drive interest. No personal identifier is logged.

What we don't collect

  • Your CV, ID number, or any other sensitive identifier.
  • Cross-site tracking cookies.
  • Third-party advertising IDs.

How we use your data

  • To run the site and analyse aggregate usage patterns (which jobs are popular, which filters get used, etc.).
  • If you subscribe: to send you the newsletter via Beehiiv.
  • If you took the quiz: to personalise the jobs we surface and the content we send.

Who we share it with

  • Vercel — site hosting and analytics. EU-based servers.
  • Supabase — database hosting. EU-based servers.
  • Beehiiv — newsletter delivery (only if you subscribe).
  • OpenAI — used during our scrape pipeline to summarise listings. User personal data is never sent to OpenAI.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • Know what data we hold about you.
  • Request a copy.
  • Ask us to correct or delete it.
  • Withdraw consent to processing (e.g. by unsubscribing).
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@creategoodcontent.com. We'll respond within 30 days as required by POPIA.

Data retention

We keep quiz responses and apply-click logs indefinitely for trend analysis (in aggregate, never linked back to individuals after the first 90 days). Newsletter subscribers are retained until they unsubscribe.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we use personal data, we'll update this page and date the change at the top. Continued use of the site after a change indicates acceptance.
