Paracon is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join their team in Johannesburg. In this role, you will be responsible for building and operationalizing data pipelines and transformation workflows using modern cloud-based platforms. Your day-to-day work will involve managing large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and storage, ensuring that the data solutions you deliver are scalable and governed effectively.
You will collaborate closely with various teams to understand their data requirements and provide solutions that meet their needs. Mentoring junior team members and contributing to best practices around data quality, performance, and governance will also be key aspects of your role. Your expertise in Power BI, particularly in data modelling, DAX, and Power Query, will be essential for creating impactful business intelligence solutions.
To succeed in this position, you should have at least four years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering, with a strong focus on BI tools. Proficiency in SQL for complex data transformations and performance tuning is a must. Familiarity with cloud data platforms, especially within the Microsoft ecosystem, is highly desirable. Experience with Spark or PySpark for scalable data processing will be considered a plus.
